Fair comment. It's interesting that KK gradually adopted the old Merseyside paranoia that the world is against us and we'll show them - no matter what the cost. This would explain the Suarez misjudgement and his awful handling of the media, even when they were trying to chuck him a lifeline. You could say the whole episode was the stuff of Shakespearian tragedy with the hero having a "fatal flaw" that destroyed him eventually. However the truth is far more prosaic. KK spent far too much on average players and didn't deliver. However, I'm certain history will judge him very kindly - he was a true great when that word has been so devalued. Finally, does his demise signal the last link with the Liverpool "way". I fear tradition will be seen as an irrelevency, to be sacrificed on the altar of Mamon.

Yet another excellently debated piece. Howard has captured the change in both football and social mobility by way of life's opportunities, to the more ruthless and money oriented world of today.
How can one feel any angst for someone who has surpassed life expectations outside of his area of expertise and walks away as a multi millionaire. And no, I don't mean Elivs!

Should have mentioned. I have fond memories of seeing Marcia Ball perform in Dallas back in the eighties. Some club on a road that began with Green. It was Green something.

An excellent summary of the range of key issues which hopefully will bring this group of arrogant elites to a shadow role before too long.
Howard has an enviable talent for developing themes which may appear singular, into a cohesive and informative piece and like Polly T hits bang on target.

Hi Howard

Excellent as usual - sorry I haven't been around lately to comment. I've been working on many projects too fabulous to talk about.

But I would love your feedback on my own latest Elvis post.

Again, an informative account of the talent of Dion, about whom I knew very little other than his major hits.
It makes me wonder how Elvis may have beaten his demons if he had been surrounded by stronger and more positive influences.

Peter
Good to hear from you and that you are well. If you are interested in Anfield next season, let me know. Do it on the 'Buy The Book' page on this blog. That way I can reply to you by email. I should be able to get you tickets but it would be with Liverpool fans and someone who scouts acclaimed strikers probably does not need tickets from me. We could though have a pint in Liverpool. I will try and make the music festival in Dent 22-24 June. Music and beer sounds fine to me, especially as Dent has the finest beer in the country.
Take care.

Hello Howard

I've just enjoyed your EPC #32 on Jeremy Hunt. Powerful stuff! Good to know that your intellect and wit are still functioning in overdrive. Now I have to catch up on your latest tome, John Bradley advises me. I'm working today in preparation for the forthcoming Dentdale Music & Beer Festival (22-24 June) which I co-founded four years ago soon after I moved to Cumbria from Richmond, Surrey after I quit the music industry due to its impending self-destruction. It's a free festival which raises money for local good causes but we feature some top music, this year including Sarah Gillespie, the Dog Roses and the Feud. I'm also trying to raise the finance to finish restoring a C17th listed cottage which I bought four years ago but the money ran out due to the credit crunch and a bank who failed to deliver. I've got a houseful of Swindon FC supporters leaving today after a weekend they say they've really enjoyed here at Dee Side House, the country house holiday let which I run. I'm a lifelong Reading FC fan and former season ticket holder so I may be over at Anfield later this year. I am actually credited with scouting and recommending striker Adam le Fondre when he was at Rotherham. He's currently our top scorer - doing a supersub impression of Fairclough.

Hope to see you soon.
